Out With the Old and in With the New...Career! | VetFran

“Thinking will not overcome fear, but action will.”—W. Clement Stone

Change can be exciting, but it can also be full of anxiety and fear. While you worked hard during your military career and gained confidence in your role, the time has come to try something new. Don’t let your fear trick you into thinking you cannot succeed in a career once again!

Our team at VetFran is here to help you overcome your fear of the unknown and grow your confidence once again through a new career in the franchising industry.

Overcome Your Fear of Change

There are a number of reasons why many people fear change, including:

  • Confusion
  • Lack of confidence
  • Loss of control
  • More work
  • Loss

However, as with most things, there are more pros than cons that can come from change. You learn and grow every time something changes. Therefore, personal growth is a huge benefit of change.

In addition, flexibility, strength, progress and opportunities can come from change. Doesn’t that sound way more exciting than sitting back and fearing loss and confusion?

A Fresh Start

Let’s take a look at ways you can conquer your fear and dive into a new career this year:

To start, you want to take some time to remind yourself of the responsibilities of the new role ahead of you. You have to remember that you are starting this new career for a reason and that you have the skills necessary in order to succeed in your new position.

If you didn’t, then you wouldn’t be here. Be confident in yourself and the knowledge you have to turn yourself into a successful franchisor.

Second, it is important to remember that there is a learning curve for everything. No one knows everything right off the bat. There will be things you need to learn, and some of those things might take time.

Do not let yourself get frustrated because you don’t have all the answers and knowledge on the first day—or even the first week or month. All you need is a willingness to learn. Don’t be afraid to ask question when you don’t know. Remember, you are still learning.

Finally, stay very present. Do not let your fear take you away from the moment, which can then take you away from the goal. Rather, let your fear push you in order to take the chance to try something new and to not give up.
